India Country Chair for G100 Media Arts & Communication, Swapna Abraham recently received an Honorary Doctorate in Music from Vinayaka Missions University on the 7th of July 2022, in honor of her world record at the Golden Books of World Record "1000 songs in 1000 days", a singing and songwriting challenge that resulted in Dr Swapna producing 2321 songs and 4 world records.
At the convocation, the singer-songwriter and soon to be published author, was conferred a 'Doctor of Music' and shared the stage with Padmasri Dr. P. T Usha, Queen of Indian Track and Field to receive the honor.
In a public statement on Facebook, she said...
"I feel so honoured, edified and strengthened to run the rest of my race, I’ve resolved to engage in only what matters, not to be too hard on myself, and to encourage those that don’t take their dreams seriously, that take the passage of time for granted and that simply don’t dream. I was so moved by Dr.P.T Usha's story of how she missed the Olympic bronze by 1/100 of a second, it reinforced what I learnt through my challenge that it not only takes missing one day to fail, it takes as less as 1/100 of a second. No matter what, I simply wouldn’t give in to anything that would cut me short of my goals and dreams." - Dr Swapna Abraham
