From the Office of the Global Chair, Alex Okoroji, we are happy to announce that the eminent Writer, Producer and Award-Winning Nollywood Film Director, Remi Ibinola has been appointed as Nigeria Country Chair for G100 Media Arts & Communication.
On a mission to bring together brilliant women from across the world, in a pact of purpose to create equity and empowerment for women and ALL. G100 is an eminent club of top 100 powerful women leaders in the world with a vision to impact the future.
WHO THEY ARE
G100 comprises a league of luminaries of eminence and excellence including Nobel Laureates, former Heads of States, Ministers, Businesswomen, Philanthropists, Investors, Entrepreneurs, Corporate and Community Leaders - a powerful Group of women leaders and achievers from all walks of life who wish to give back and move us all forward as architects of the future.
WHAT THEY DO
G100 is an action think-tank, fostering more women's network with a global, cross-cultural, intersectional and intentional perspective towards peace, parity and prosperity for all. Their core activities involve networking, mentoring, collaborations, upskilling, community building, thought leadership, knowledge sharing, global campaigns, policy recommendations and awards & recognition.
THE PURPOSE
The mandate of G100 is to provide the thought leadership for the coming decade on what needs to be done for inclusivity and economic and social empowerment of women globally. Together they will define, design and determine a new future with equity, equal opportunity, inclusion and economic empowerment of women, and of all, through the inclusive agency of women.
G100 MEDIA ARTS & COMMUNICATION
G-MAC is a multinational sector wing led by the eminent G100 Club, for Women using Media Arts and Communication to impact the world. As Gatekeepers of information, this G-wing is on a mission to create a thriving support network, opportunities and collaborative ecosystem for media arts practitioners in 100 countries. G-MAC connects, recognizes and supports women in creative media, broadcast media, print media, news media, electronic media, digital or interactive media across domains like film, television, radio, publishing, internet and all media arts & communication segments, to expand networks, educate and celebrate their accomplishments.
THE COUNTRY CHAIRS
Country Chairs are powerful media arts and communication professionals leading their Country Chapter. They further deepen the network and build a robust community of leadership, enterprise, engagement and change in their Chapters across states, cities and districts within the country, taking the mission forward into deeper interiors, and into the hearts and minds of every woman and ALL within their communities.
ABOUT REMI IBINOLA
Remi Ibinola has fourteen years in Nollywood as a prolific screenwriter, producer and film director, Remi Ibinola is the quintessential artist.
Remi has a library of highly rated movies on the Irokotv.com app with her movies shown on ROK Channel on DSTV, the foremost provider of Nollywood Film content.
As a writer, Remi's work experience range from television series for clients like MTV Shuga, BBC, Ford Foundation, ROK Studios, Royal Roots, IBST etc to directing and producing films and children’s shows.
A tried and tested hand in the Nigerian Movie Industry - She was awarded "Director of the Year" at the 2019 Nigerian Women Achievers Award. Remi is passionate about telling stories through writing screenplay and filmmaking. She believes the Nigerian cinema represents the deep beauty of a rich storytelling culture.
She has a degree in theatre arts from the University of Jos and runs APPLAUSE ENTERTAINMENT PRODUCTIONS alongside its sister company SISTASOUL INFOTAINMENT PRODUCTIONS where she is the CEO.
She has been published in the 2005 Voices Net Anthology and in the Niger Delta Standard, where she ran a column FIGHTING REALITY. She has worked on several television shows including Taste of Love and Knorr Taste Quest as head writer and has produced several films including the critically acclaimed films "The Distance Between" and "Theo’s Dora", a one-hour romantic drama for EbonyLife Television.
Remi’s short screenplay, "Veronica's Pieces" was shortlisted with an honourable mention in the 2012 Sundance table read my script contest and other film festivals. She has worked as Head of content for Reality TV shows from Questal House and MichelAngelo Productions.
Remi has also worked on BBC’s popular long-running radio drama ‘Story Story’ as scriptwriter and editor and on MTV Shuga season 4 as a scriptwriter for both the television and the radio versions.
She has a certificate from the University of California, School of Theatre Film and Television (UCLA) and has served as a National Executive of the "Association Of Movie Producers" (AMP) as Public Relations Officer (PRO).
